RED LETTER DAY

Just can't believe that I finally went all day in the hay field without rain or breakdowns. Baled this morning and mowed this afternoon and NOTHING broke. I really think this is the first day this season that this has happened. Retired again last Thursday (hopefully for good) so maybe now I can get some things caught up around here. Now I'm not bragging, but it sure does give me a good feeling LOL. Keith

Something about counting chickens springs to mind here.....good luck for the future!
LOL.....Sam

You're in big trouble tomorrow! I bought a different baler last Thursday, had very few bales ever put through it. I baled that night remembering how great it was when I bought my last new one 16 years ago. Went to the field Friday thinking I wouldn't even have to get out of the seat. Yea right. I was back home three times fixing problem from it sitting on the dealer lot for so long. Let's just say it didn't go so good the second day.

No I sure am not. This is the first day in a long time this year that I could say that. Don't know what's gonna go wrong tomorrow, but today was a good one. LOL. Keith

I mowed all my alfalfa today. Old 990IH haybine just churned through some of the heaviest hay and OG I have ever had. Never bent a guard or broke a section. Ran in 2 range, 3rd gear about 6 mph.
I did spend about 5 hours working on it and 300 dollars worth of parts, belt and sections last fall. Isn't it strange how time spent preparing a machine is inversely proportional to number of problems in the field.
It's parked on the shop apron slab right now getting a thorough going over.7 new guards. two dozen new bolts, 24 new flange nuts, belt idlers tightened up, grease, bend to fit new guards..

Had a good one going today. I could see the end of mowing hay for the season and just needed to finish mowing 30 more feet and , then BANG, The driveshaft broke free from the slip clutch and I was done for the day. Good thing I have a parts haybine or I would be waiting for a dealer to find one and send it to me.
Made good use of our dry spell and a few lucky breaks to get the haying done. But no matter how good you think your machine is it will get you at the time you least need to break down. Is that Murphy's law?
