Ford 661 Cuts Out

I recently rebuilt the carburetor and changed points and plugs on my Ford 661 tractor. Starts fine now and idles properly, but once I put it in gear I can drive for maybe 10 minutes and then it seems to loose power, chugs along and runs rough before finally cutting out. After cutting out it is hard to start and then barely idles. If I let it sit for awhile it starts fine and goes again for a few minutes before it goes into the routine again. Any thoughts?

An older post on the Ford site once recommended checking to see if the valve clearances is set right on the engine.

When it cuts out pull a plug wire and see how your spark is while cranking the motor.
If you need a reference to what it should look like check it before starting the first time.

Take the gas line loose at the carb and let the gas run into a bucket.
Is it a steady flow; or does it slow to a trickle over time.

Post back with your results and we can go from there.

Do the simple/cheap stuff first... check spark and fuel flow. I'd lean toward a lack of fuel in your situation. Make sure your gas cap is vented (vents not plugged) and the fuel screens are not plugged.
