My dog was running yesterday. I heard a pop and she started crying and dragging one of her back legs. After about an hour, she started walking on again but, has a slight limp this morning. Anybody have similiar experience

Yes, I had the same thing happen. A couple beers and I felt better, still walk with a bit of a hitch in my git up, as they say...

Pat,
Having English Mastiffs and German Shepards, all bigger dogs are more prone to having hip dysplaysia. Have had it in all the dogs as they got older.

None ever experienced a pop like you talk about. Just more discomfort as they got older. Maybe give your vet a call and see what they think. We always kept ours on Glucosamine, seemed to help, vet said it wouldnt hurt.

sounds like it just got dislocated. You're lucky it popped itself back in.

Hopefully that's it -

but as others have said some dogs are born with hip displaysia. You'd need x-rays for that. Symptoms usually show up as the dog gets older.

I'd ask a vet - not sure there's much they could do if it is displaysia - have to watch for lameness and limping - and worry about arthritis.

As far as I know it's more a thing to worry about if you're breeding dogs - since it's genetic, you want to breed it out.

Take the poor thing to the Dr. and get it looked at. Could have chipped a bone or the joint could be out of place. I don't like to see an animal suffer because the owner is too cheap to spend money on it.

Our Lab pulled a muscle in his back a few weeks ago. After it happened, he would hold his head low when standing, and was in pain when moving or trying to lay down. Doc gave him some anti-inflammatory pills to take for 2 weeks. He got over it finally and is back to normal now. Really scared us. Don't know what we would do without him......
