Finally a break from the rain and humidity. Dew point has dropped below 70 and temps back to mid 70's here in Central NY. Charley, our spray guy has been running non stop since early this morning, and planning on an all-nighter. He is really behind with all the flooding and wet weather in the area. He has been leaving some nasty ruts in the fields, but at least he hasen't got the CAT sprayer stuck yet.

Great picture. I have always wondered about the origin of the name of your farm. Sounds like it would date way on back. Even to Dewitt Clinton era? Probably something totally different from that.

we have had an extremelly wet spring and summer here, and mosquistos are running rampant, hope thats not the cas for you, beautiful picture

Phantastic photo! Friday was the first day in a week or more (I have lost count), that we did not have rain here. Actually managed to get most of the yard mowed! (I specified Friday because it is 12:50 EDT here now.) (Saturday)

It does date back to that era. If you Google Gen. James Clinton, the commander of the Continental Army, and get to the point in history where he and his troops encamped to build a dam at the end of Otsego Lake so they could raft down the Susquehana river to link up with Sullivan's 4th Regiment, and on down to meet George Washington and his troops in Valley Forge, you will understand the origin of the farm name. The farmstead was the site of Clinton's encampment. Dewitt Clinton's ditch / Erie Canal/NYS Bardge Canal, is just 15 miles north of us in the Mohawk Valley.
