Gee, Larry, why didn't you say you were going to be driving through my neighborhood? I'd have invited you in for tea and crumpets.

That brings back memories, I used to like that road that stretches from out side of Morristown, say east of the square heading towards Mendham, towards the Abbey Delbarton School, you head south and pass AT&T Mooreland Farms, used to go to the steeple chase in October every year, with people that lived in houses like that. In those days I drove a rusty old chevy K10, and would get pulled over in basking ridge, just for driving it, one early evening, after a softball game, (few beers much earlier before it was time to head home, you know when you could do that sort of thing and not worry) so the darned door swung open around a corner, and I slammed it shut, cop heard the noise and pulled me over to see if I belonged in the neighborhood of basking ridge and he watched me park and go into my condo, amongst the rest of the worker bee colony, that drove late model vehicles. Like you, I headed out with a lunchbox every day to a D8 on a site job or whatever they had me doing, driving that old chevy, I still have the darned thing sitting in my yard !

That road from Mendham heading into Far Hills, is literally what the name says, some of those houses were like a 100 acres in from the road as I recall, it has to be one of the most picturesque areas.

If you are ever up that way near Morristown, that area heading west out of town is nice, over near the Seeing Eye, where they train the service dogs for blind people on Washington Valley road. We built a road off the left in there for some wealthy west point grad, at the top of the hill you could see the world trade center, well the tops of it, incredible view, there was an old stone ice house, it was the coolest, (pardon the pun) little building, and old farm where apparently George Washington stayed once. Its probably changed quite a bit since those days.

Just remember, slobs like us, LOL ( heck you aint no slob !!!! LOL!) we live like kings because we have gardens and things similar no amount of wealth could ever buy ! Just look at your photos, and your friends nearby in PA, thats living life my friend !

Larry,

Be careful when you drive threw those slummy neighborhoods.Probably a criminal behind every door!

Billy, the road with the stone wall is the road leading from far hills to liberty corner,Mooreland farms is across from the wall and the leanard buck gardens, you probably remember that road and the long stone wall

Really something to look at, fast forward a little further along in the career, had moved up to a nice convertible, that and this road made a nice leisurely drive, low cost fun, nice roads etc., the other side of 287 all the way down to basking ridge was also something else to admire. I used to haul out of the Millington quarry, there was a static display of old equipment think an old D8, pull graders or similar era, neat little display, not far from the scale house. Reminds me, Mt Hope rock products way up in Wharton, used to have a small show, same old era equipment, that was a busy and dangerous place, I never lost sight while in the cab, of those 994 loaders, and or end dumps, dwarfs a road truck. The water truck in there was a downpour on wheels, huge operation.

Why where you taken pictures of my house? Ya right. My house looks nothing like that house.Other then being in New Jersey, it may as well be 1000 miles away.

I was driven through a neighborhood just about like that one about 20 years ago when I visited a suppliers plant.
. It was near Rogers, Arkansas. Turned out all of the homeowners were employees of Sam Walton, back when he didn't have enough money to pay them. They took stock in Wal-Mart instead of wages. Guess what happened!

larry@stines,

Beautiful stone walls.

Could not imagine living in such ostentatious houses. Interesting to see...but like our miniscule hovel better.

I wouldnt like them either,I have to clean our small house, not because I have too,but because my wife works so many hours and I get rain days ,I sure wouldnt like to clean one of those houses!
