Somebody got a nice new KUBOTA. I can not help but laugh when I see you guys hay field photos.
Here in Tennessee it is either up or down hill and small fields for hay the good ground gets row crops.

You can see that the fertility is way down. Are you going to hit it with some fertilizer? Do they have wood ash for top dressing there? The wood ash raises pH and K for fairly short money.

I got the L3800 about 1.5 yrs ago and used it to rake with cause it's so easy on fuel. My buddy and I both mowed and my H with 120 balanced mower cut a little better than his conditioner. A little sharpening and maintenance goes a long ways if you know what I mean.
The property doesn't belong to either of us, so their won't be any fertilizing going on from us. Probably a one time job. The fields are crowned with downhill to the trees.

(quoted from post at 15:13:29 07/09/13) A great day's work!

That's funny. How about 4 days. Mowing, work on his conditioner, raking, work on his baler, hauling, fix flat tire on his trailer, take eqpt back home, blah blah

Showcrop, where do you get wood ash? I am down in
the Catskills and would love to find a cheaper
alternative to lime.

Like lime, the cost of wood ash is dependent on trucking distance. Here in NH there are a number of wood fired electrical generating plants that burn clean wood chips only. If you have any of these plants in your area there should be ash available from them. The company in NH that handles the wood ash is Resource Management of Ashland NH. They may know of a company in your area that does it. Lime must be a lot cheaper for you than me because you are a lot closer to Lee Mass.
