Long tractors

My memory ,and it is probably faulty , is that early Longs were Fiat clones . They were born of the Oliver 1250 and 1350 lines . These were definitely Fiats. I don't think early Longs were Ford derivatives.

Others will probably know better .

I have a long 350 which has been great parts are available
just do a google search for suppliers, they seem to change.
Because parts might been hard to find I woulded pay a lot for
one but then again I would not sell mine. Goes forever on 5
gallons of fuel raking and teddering. Oh yeah, hydraulic
system is nothing to brag about

many Olivers and Allis chalmers sold in the 70's were fiats with really fantastic Perkins clones..........great running good tractors, I've used several longs that were very good, previous neglect non withstanding. They were all Eastern block and will buy another.

Depends on the modle 510 2510 610 2610 were ok i would stay away from 445 460 was so so. They definatly had there faults Lter years they became farmtrac and again modle specific plays a huge part.

I think Long bought tractors off just about anyone who would sell to them. The later ones that looked like Fords (435, 535, to name a couple) were actually built in India, from the tooling that was bought off CNH when Case and New Holland merged. Montana (little green compacts) bought their North American operations a few years ago. I know last time I needed parts Sandy Lake Implement got them for me.

I have about a half dozen of the Fiat built tractors in Long,AC and Oliver versions one of the toughest economical engines to operate you'll ever find and all parts available at very reasonable prices which is more than I can say for my USA built tractors.
