PTO hayrake

This would be something new for us, don't really need it much, but who makes/made a GOOD pto hayrake. Don't know that I ever seen a New Holland. When we were raking our 6' tall rye hay this spring one would have been nice, I think.

MF collector that I know will insist that it is MF. I have one in the weeds. I kept having problems with the bar bearings.

I have a Ferguson 3 point hitch side delivery rake that does a good job. The only problem with the model that I have is that it is ground speed only. They did make them that was 540 or ground speed either one. Alice Chalmers also made a good PTO driven side delivery rake. Keith

I have been using an old Ford 3 point hitch PTO rake for the past 10 years and it has been good, very few problems. Cost $165 at an auction in 2003.

My neighbor also had a Ford 3 pt pto hay rake that was one raking machine! It really worked good. He could rake anything. When he got to the end of the windrow, just raise it up and on to the next. That was back in the day before the double bar basket rakes and wheel rakes hadn't even been thought of yet.

NH Holland and JD both made three point PTo driven rakes. NH had the same model numbers as the regular pull type rakes. I know of several NH 56 PTO rakes. JD had several too but the most common is the JD 350 rake. There are two on tractor house right now. One in Indiana and one in Texas. Picture is of the one in Texas.

There are the older Ferguson and Ford PTO rakes. Plus MF made more modern ones too. The Model number on them was MF 525. The picture of the MF 525 is in England. Shipping maybe an issue. LOL

The modern PTO driven Rotary rakes work well in tall wet crops. They would be a faster rake then the PTO bar rakes. Kuhn and Krone both make them. There are many makes/brands of them.

I have one of those Ford 3 point PTO rakes. I like it other then the rubber teeth mounts it has because you are always having to replace them at $4 each so it sits in the fence row not being used

Old just switch it over to the steel rake teeth. There are complete kits you buy with the new teeth, clips, and bolts. Runs around $2 per tooth.

I have a NI m49 3pt, PTO rake. Good unit does a nice job. Nice thing, can pick it up and carry it when needed.

Mine has metal teeth, no rubber other than the two belts. I have not had to replace a single tooth in 10 years of putting up 1000-1500 bales a year, so they are made of good stuff.

This one only has the rubber mount teeth and every time I used it I would loose 2 or 3 so it now had more missing then it has on it. I do like the way it makes a nice big windrow but I hate the teeth so it has sat for years now

KUHN. I have a Kuhn gyro rake that I bought new in 1987. My brother borrowed it recently and raked lawn clippings with it! I told him I always said a chimp could rake lawn clippings with it,he said Yep,you're right.

I think that was Alice Chambers.

I have a Ford I was given. It's a fantastic rake as far as raking goes. The problem is it's been beat to death and the revolving stripper is full of cracks. All it takes is one stem getting caught in a crack and you've got a mess on your hands. Also have problems with the grass getting bound up in the tail end rotor bearing. I think there used to be a guard there, but it's long gone.

I drool like a hungry dog every time I see one of those rotary rakes! The look like they'd work real slick on my bumpy, ledgy ground.

I have one, haven't used it in several years but at one time it raked all my hay. Only trouble is in really heavy hay a guy has to watch close or the pto shaft wraps up....tight. BTDT

The New Holland model number is 57. I bought a new Model 57 about 8 years ago. I think they may still be available new.
