With all these posts complaining about rain, I have to say there is another alternative. Through the spring we had timely rains, never any huge toad stranglers but enough to keep the ground wet and keep us out of the fields. Corn and beans are 30 days behind and the faucet got shut off the second week of June. It has turned hot and dry and the corn is curling, a lot of beans in the area range from 2-8" in height. 100 degrees with 20mph wind forecast today. There is rain forecast this evening. Don't forget to see the silver lining in those clouds.

It's bad dry here in east central kansas.I grow millit after wheat for my cow herd & it ain't up yet.Might be an expensive winter.

Was praying that those were rain clouds yesterday, but nope, no rain. Our drought continues.

Had another 2.5 inches last night. That makes 10 inches in a week. Soybeans are drowning and I can't get near the garden to dig my potatoes.
The Corp of Engineers was going to run a scheduled test of the flood gates on Hartwell Lake tomorrow, but had to open them a day early as the lake is above food stage and rising. It is a big lake with a thousand miles of shoreline. It is approaching a record stage set back in 1964. More rain in the forecast every day for the next 10 days.

What we been getting here in SE Ohio for the last 2 hrs. TV keeps going on and off, and I about got all these green beans snipped, I'd much rather be baling hay, but that's not gonna happen for awhile now. Creeks are bank full as I write this.
Cows are stomping the pastures into a mud bogg. At least you aren't wading around in mud up to yer BVD's.

Our problem is,they haven't been big rains. Last one we had that amounted to anything was .4 a week ago last Friday. Since then,it's just been little quick .1 in five to ten minutes kind of things. Then it stays mostly cloudy, calm and humid so we can't get hay dry or get much photosynthesis in the corn.

I'd love to get two inches then dry out for a week to ten days.

Guys, The "Too Much Rain" Complainers I just don't have much time for. Here in Texas we are STILL in a DROUGHT! about 5 yrs now. the little drought that the Mid-West went through last yr is just a small speed bump to us down here, we do those with our eyes closed on sunday afternoon, We don't even phone home and tell the Folks on drought that short! Not piking on Midwest just an observation.
Got 2.5 inches a month ago that is the most rain we have seen at one time in over 2 yrs. Yes we are green but it is only 2 inches deep in the soil that 2.5 is now long since gone and pastures are drying out Fast like a Freight Train running down hill and picking up speed. Area Lakes are at Record Lows. We need General Rains here to the point we think we need to start building an Ark!
OBTW... Got .95 of Rain yesterday, I wasn't home to see it but the ground was nice and wet and my rain Gauge showed the evidence. Nice to get!!

We are doing good on rain right where I live. You can go 10 miles either way and find areas with too much an south too little.

I got 7 tenths Sunday night and it is raining now. Supposed to rain most of the day. Then four days with zero percent chance of rain. More than likely rain everyday. LOL

We need rain in west central Arkansas. We have had a good spring and plenty of hay has been put up. The wheat crop is harvested and most of the soybeans were planted back behind the wheat. Corn is at a critical stage where it needs water. The pastures still have grass for the cattle to graze, but it is no longer growing. We have had droughts the last 2 years, sure hope it is not 3 in a row. Best of luck to all in your endeavors to make a living from the land.

My nephew in ND said last night that if he doesn't get some rain soon, he won't get a 2nd cutting of alfalfa. Too dry now after being wet all spring.

In this part of Missouri it is getting way to dry again. Just did around 150-200 square bales of hay yesterday evening and 70 or so are still on the ground. Didn't even have much is any due this morning. Been watering the garden every other day

Erik, its getting real dry here too..Got a 5" rain (picture) on
June 15th and very little since then..The corn in my area is all
the way from 4" tall to 6 ft tall and tasseling..Today will be
near 100 with a 20 mph wind which will torch things..I've only
seen one soybean field over 4" tall..

Monday evening Toronto, Ontario, Canada. got as much rain in 4 hours as they would normaly in the whole month of July. Lots of flooding and power outages. My farm is a 9o minute drive northeast, we didn't see a drop yesterday. Rain is a best unpredictable. But last years while things where dry, we did have good crops, and this year with lots of rain, our crops still look good. Bruce
