O. T RV fresh water

Used my Rv in early June didn't drain fresh water tank and now it hay odor problems I put 2qts of Clorox in the tank filled it and circulated several gallons thru the system and will drain tomorrow.
Any suggestions?

Was told if your going to tow the rv any distance, fill the tank with ice cubes - they will scrub the fresh water tank

I had that happen to me & I did what you did & it worked great. Now go fill your tank about half full & go drive around & then drain them & you are good to go. Gerald

hard to put ice cubes on most rv fresh water tanks you dump a bag of ice down the john to help knock stuff loose

I use 2 cups to 30 gallons. I do this once a year. Fill the tank, run it through the lines, let it sit over night. Drain/pump out. Rinse with fresh water and its good.

On my camper the instructions for sanitizing the fresh water system is to add 1/4 cup clorox per 15 gals of water, you fill tank to full and allow to sit in system for 8 hours, then drain and flush. if the clorox smell or taste lingers afterwards fill tank and add 2cups vinegar and allow to set for 8 hours then drain and flush, this works for me.

RV dealers or Wally World sell that fresh water holding tank treatment which Ive used and it indeed works, but I usually just do the clorox fill then dump n rinse thing that works fine as we dont ever drink water that comes out of the holding tanks anyway........Its the black holding tanks that need maintenance also, I about always refill n flush n rinse them after each dump unless I'm in a long line at a dump station.

I do like John T, I fill it and sanitize with chlorine bleach, drain then refill and bring a couple gallons of bottled water for cooking and drinking.

Sounds like you got it covered. We carry store brought water for drinking and coffee and such. Just use the RV water for washing dishes, showers, toilet, and other non-human consumption uses.
