AC 175 temp gauge

I have an AC 175 gas that runs fine with temp gauge where it should be, then all of a sudden the gauge goes to the hot side. Shut tractor off and it wants to run on a bit, but the radiator doesn't seem overly hot. Thermostat problem or ???

My Oliver 1850 gas had the same issues. Problem turned out to be a bad gage sender.

As the engine reached operating temperature it would go short and peg the gage on the hot side.

Sounds like you may have two issues. As the others said the "overheating" may be a gauge or sender problem.

Suggest you check timing for the continuing to run problem after switching off.

Check the temperature of the water with a meat thermometer.A simple test Ive used for years. The thermostat can be tested in a tuna can on the stove top.
