Disc blades

Need to replace the disc blades on my disc. Want to put some good "made in the USA" blades on. What would you fellows recommend? They are 22 inch. The old ones just seem brittle, China made and the centers just keep brake out, broke two yesterday. JD, Case, Agco, not fussy about brand.

ASC has two different hardnesses. One made in India and the other Brazil. Don't know where to find USA blades or even if they make them. I have used both and they work fine. Shipping is a bear however, especially if you order a whole set and new axles and all.

last set I put on was from CNH and they said "Earth Metal" I think, not sure where they are made I thought they had USA on them but they seem to be very tough, been over 3000 plus acres so far in lots of rock and no problem so far

International use to make a blade called Earth Metal if I remember right. They were some of the best I had found at the time. Whether they continued after the merger, maybe under a different name, I don't know. I had put a set on a Krause and they were excellent.

I agree with the "Earth Metal" blades. I've had a set on a 490 for a long time. I've bounced it over a lot of rock and broken concrete from cleaning up old building sites. I've put a lot of gouges in them but no broken blades. For me and the gentlemen who rolls the blades will agree due to the thickness of the blades ,they are thicker than most ,the blades require rolling on a more frequent basis. John

The ones I use are made in Brazil. I only use my disc where I can't mow because of rocks. They hold up fine for me. I have a Allis Chalmers disc, and have to cut out the center to 4 in, is the only problem for me. I doubt A/C even makes blades anymore Where I live is not a farming community any more, so I take what I can get. I have never used ones from China, but would stay away from them. Have you thought about going to a 24 in. blade if you have room. Not much more money, and they will last longer. Stan

IH/CIH Earth Metal=Best. Should be made in Canada. Some CIH tillage parts are no longer Earth Metal, or some are one order and not the next. If you're paying for Earth Metal, make sure you get Earth Metal.

Ingersoll=Very Good. Should be made in Canada.
McKay=Very Good. Should be made in Canada.

Osmundson=? Should be made in USA. I have never used their disc blades.
Wiese=? Made? I haven't used their disc blades for some time. Some of their tillage parts are co-stamped Wiese and TATU, Brazil. Good stuff. They may be working with McKay-Empire on some things now, too.

TSC claims to have some "exclusive" disc blades in their Blue Book. "Special orders don't upset us!" is a catchprhase I've never seen used at TSC, and odds are there are only a few stocked at any store.

There are some very good tillage parts made in Brazil.
I don't know about India.
I don't care about China. If it comes down to putting "Made in China" disc blades on a disc, I'd probably run the old ones down to the spools first.

"OSMUNDSON MANUFACTURING" Perry, IA. Have a full set on A Rock Flex disk 7, 8 years old; No Broken Blades yet! Just make sure they are still made here. That can change overnight!

I agree with the CIH Earth Metal. You will pay more but your increase in use will be worth it.
