HELP hays ready baler isn't

John Deere 530 baler the pump that runs the twine are quit. Looks like a power steering pump. Anybody know how to fix it or if there is a power steering pump that will work off of a vehicle.

Auto pump can work, BUT I believe some are different displacement achieved by wider vanes in the pump housing. Housing has to be unique to each displacement. Need to find one the same dimensions.

Replacement pumps are hard to prime!! Nothing to move the vanes out. Have to put a rag over fill tube and apply some air to prime. Leave a line loose on the discharge side to help with priming. Don't do this with it running! Takes some time to get the air out of the system. Cycle it several times.

Better check that the mechanism relatches or the second pump will fail. If it doesn't relatch, the pump runs all the time, overheats, fails. Check that all five of the springs in that area are in place.

The mechanism works like it should, but with the pump being driven there is no pressure on the outlet line. I blew air into the pump also.

Usual failure mode is the mechanism does not re-latch, the pump runs continuously, it overheats and melts the dipstick and fails internally.

Did it still have fluid in it?

TX Jim is right to open the flow control valve fully and see if it might be plugged.

The pump had the correct level of fluid in it. The pulley is not slipping on the shaft nor is the belt slipping on the pulley. How much pressure does this pump create? Should it be a full flow blowing out the outlet when running?
