Kinda Makes Ya Feel Dumb

A month or so back I was rotary mowing with my 961 dorF. I dumped in about 3hree gallon of diesel which should have more than done what I wanted to mow. I notices a few drops of diesel dripping off the injector pump but was trying to beat dark. About half done it runs out of fuel. I see under the pump that a lot had run out, down the block and off the pan. I thought to myself the pump will need rebuilt to leak like that. Pulled it out of the field and put a different tractor on the mower. It has been setting in the yard ever since.
This after noon I put a screwdriver and a wrenches to remove the pump in my pockets along with a fist full of rags. I wiped the side of the pump off and see an O ring about to fall off the throttle shaft on the outside. I pulled it off and see the throttle shaft would push in and out. The O ring looked to big to actually fit. I went up to the shed and got my O ring assortment and went back to the tractor. I found one that looked like it would be a better fit. snapped that little sucker behind the head and around the shaft, dumped in a coupla gallon of fuel, cracked the injector caps, cranked it over until I was just getting fuel, tightened the caps, shot a little starter fluid in her, hit the started and the old 961 dorF was running. No leaks.
Could of done that when it ran out of fuel in the beginning if I had not been in such a hurry.
Hooked it back to the mower and it started to pour here.

Misery loves company so I 'm gonna give you some. Had 16 acres of hay on the ground, forecast for today 106*. Went outside early saw no dew this am. Called my brother, who was going to rake, told him to be here at 9:30. He showed up on time(a miracle) we pulled out drove the 8 miles to the field. As I pulled in with the baler I noticed the fuel gauge sitting on 1/4. DUH, back to the barn to fill up. So much for being done really early.
