Aftermarket tractor turn signals

Anyone add aftermarket turn signals to a tractor? Dad had a close call yesterday with combination poor hand signals and older driver. This would go on a 4020 with Hiniker cab.

If your 4020 has a 12v system you could look in to an add-on system for street rods. I found one at an auto swap meet for my M38a1 military Jeep for about $30. JC Whitney might have them too.

Spend the little extra and buy a LED set. They use very little juice and can be seen a long ways.
Tractor House has adds for what you want.

Pretty easy to add - flasher, switch, a little wire and two lights.
I have done that to several old trucks and one tractor. I like to also use an old type head light socket to hold the flasher.

There are universal turn signal switches available that clamp to the steering column.
Signal Stat is one brand. I think Grote has one that is available from OReilly auto

Get stop/turn/tail lights, wire the dim side into the flasher. Then wire the bright side into a three way on/off/on switch. Mount the switch so that when you move the toggle left, the right comes on solid, move toggle right, left comes on solid. About as simple (and probably as cheap) as you can make it.

LEDs are brighter and draw less current, but generally have a narrower viewing angle. Especially in daylight, it can be hard to see them at much of an angle, mounting them at the top of the cab would make it that much worse.

I have 2-sided signal/markers in the grill guard of my old Dodge, had standard lights but switched them out for LEDs.

Of course, these are just examples.

harbor freight has a towing light set, with magnetic bases for $10. I cut the whole thing apart, took the magnets off and mounted them, with a $1.19 flashr from napa. It was the best money I have spent. I have had many close calls, and one major accident where the 17 y/o kid took his S-10 into my front tire, then up a bank, turned on his side, thn back on the road and upright. He got out screaming at me, but, the police came and measured his black marks. 135 feet of black skid marks before he hit me. I can't remember what they say his speed had to be, but, it was fast, and he really got lucky by not being dead. Local guy got hit last week, moving rounds on a double yellow line road. Someone in the car had to be life-flight lifted. I don't know the outcome, but, it can't be good.

Around here we have a lot of gas wells, so drivers are now trained when they see an escort truck to pull over. So now, when we move something big, I drive escort in front, with an orange strobe on the roof, hazards on, an when a car comes at me, I blink my high beams. they move over. Only had a few people ignore me, but, nothing ever cameout bad.

I agree that turn signals are better than nothing on farm equipment BUT drivers where I live south of DFW are in such a big hurry that they pass farm equipment regularly while the farm equip. is attempting left turns. County roads and state highways are very dangerous to travel on with farm equipment.
