Starter problems

If your cables are not at least O gauge that is the issue. It takes twice as much amps to roll a 6v compared to a 12v. So fat wires are mandatory. All connections bright and shiny.
Starter bushings must be good or the armature will drag on the fields. Jim

Just went through this on my son inlaw's B.
He had the starter drive replaced, the shop
rplaced the bushings in the starter too, put
it back on the tractor & it won't crank?? He
called me, I said it cranked ok Befor didn't
it? He said yes, I said the bushing's in the
starter must be install too tight or something
take the starter back. He did they say it's OK.
So I go over & look at it, he also put new
cables on, little darn things? I said there's
your problem, I put the old cables back on
made sure they had GREAT connections.. Now
it cranks fine... MAKE SURE U have a GOOD
Ground.........

in addition to the good info in jan's post. you may want to pull the plug snad put in neuutral, and see if you can bar the engine over to make usre it is not hydro locked or stuck.

can do this at the fan belt. crank nose bolt.. or pull starter and bar with prybar.

that would let you inspect starter too. bushings will be obvious.

check ground as well.
