My grandson found this snake in his back yard in southern Indiana.
It was dead when found. There was no visible injury to it. What kind of snake is this, and do snakes bite themselves when dying? ....

If it were in Texas, I would say chicken/rat snake, bit in Indiana, I can't be sure.
 
Looks like a prairie king snake to me. I always liked having them around because one item on their diet happens to be copperheads.
 
Don"t know about the snake but by the looks of the brick they are lucky the house isnt vinyl siding or it would be toast by now.

No snakes in Michigan that big, luckily.
