Another reason for planter monitors

Have a VERY reliable John Deere 7000 12rn planter, doing soybeans and didn't want to mess with the monitor. Doing 100 acre field and fill the boxes about half full for the last 3 rounds. Been going great for 98 acres but as I get ready to check the boxes at the end, one is still half full. I curse under my breath an think the tube must have a dirt clod or old cornstalk stuck in it. Nope..... a bull snake crawls up the tube in the 5 minutes it takes for me to fill the boxes. you can see his head sticking up. I thought the mud and rain was enough but this almost sent me over the edge.

I hate snakes. Now I will be thinking about that snake when I reach down and stick my hand up the bottom of my shoes on my 1940's monitorless corn planter. I do it every few rounds to make sure its not clogged. I guess I'll have to come up with a new method of checking.

My way of thinking is, a good snake is a dead snake.
If Ireland can live without them, we can too.
I have heard there are no snakes in Ireland.
Is this true?

C'mon, cowboy up! Snakes do more good than harm, excluding the vipers. They leave me alone; I leave them alone.

I just heard a rumor that Deere will have a snake sensor on their new planters next year. A little slithering line will go across the screen and the row number will come up. Jim

LOVE THAT PICTURE!!!! Only because its not me looking in there or my hand.

Snakes dont bother me as long as I see them first. That almost never happens, so I jump like a little girl, and I am too big to be doing that but I do.

If I see one cruising across the yard, I have no problem walking up to it and watching it. It when I reach into the grain bin and one is just below the surface. Not sure but I think I can set a high jump record those days.

I saw this one crossing the road and the kids laughed at me because I wouldnt get out of the truck. Around 2 foot long. 90% sure its a hog nose aka puff adder.
If you zoom in maybe you see a tiny rattle on its tail, or maybe its my imagination...

No snakes in Ireland unless they are in someones weird collection or in a zoo....come to think of it anyone who collects snakes should be in a zoo!!
