Have tried Googling without much success. I am trying to verify my memory from childhood (the 1950's). Supposedly our neighbor at the time had won a national plowing contest, then losing in Sweden for international status. This would have been I guess mid or early '50's. His name was John Daniels. I went to high school with his daughter, but have lost track of her. Anyone involved with these contests?
 
Daughters name is Linda and she is still
in the area. I also lived close, was a little
older. My uncles hauled John's equipment to some
of the plowing contests.
 
Found list of past winners, back to 1953 which was the first contest. Never been a winner from the USA, wonder how those European winners would do on our great plains?

Here is a list of events in Illinois for 1956 and it is mentioned on page 82.

Got most of the answers I was looking for. John won in Sept, 1954. On Friday he won the statewide contour plowing contest. A fellow from Minooka won level land plowing. This was held near Odin Illinois. The next day John won the national contest; he had first tried in 1948. He went to Sweden the following year, 1955. Oliver Corp. donated an Oliver 77 diesel and 2-bottom plow for the overseas match. Evidently it was a special plow with more adjustments, and over there it was a special "old world" type plowing.
