15w-40 as hydro fluid, PTO clutch

My dad's company has extensively used 15-40 in all equipment engines and hydro systems. However, I have a Case 1170 with PTO and curious more about the clutch with that oil. I am not sure if thee clutch is a multi plate wet fiber or something different like a hydraulic clutch.

From my MC experience, it seemed the friction modifiers in engine oils did not work well on wet clutch packs.

However, experience might rule here. I would be more interested to hear from people that are doing it or have done it.

To update, the oil in question is actually Mobile 424 universal trans/hydro fluid. It has specific ratings for wet clutches so I would assume a non-issue there.

However, I did not see a thing on it rated as engine oil but they have been using it for years in engines. I would sure like to see the additive breakdown on that oil.

Oops, I goofed again. The old in question is actually Delvac 1300. They have the 424 for other machines but using the Delvac in all CAT machines as hydro and engine oils.

So....Since I have a half barrel of Delvac 1300, has anyone used such an oil in a box with PTO clutch?

You can run it thru the engine but that free or cheap oil will cause many issues in clutch packs and you'll be changing them all. Because the oil will be too thick to flow to the packs. Hytran is very thin oil which is what is suppose to be in the rear end of the case
