skidsteer backhoe attachments

Thinking about getting a backhoe attachment for my skidsteer. I see they have the kind that has a seat on it. It appears that this kind would be operated from the seat on the unit, not from the skidsteer itself. Then there's the kind that just attaches to the quick tach and its just an arm going out. It appears that this kind would be operated right from the seat of the skidsteer. Presumably with the auxillary hydraulic controls? Seems this kind would be a lot faster to dig with? Anyone have any experience with these attachments?
 
I have a Bobcat 907 attachment it has is own seat if you bring the lap bar down you can controll the machine from that seat by reaching back on the handles to move it around. The other type is like a trencher fixed to the machine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0KETYXd6XM

The arm attached to the quik-tach is a cheaper version but I think it would be way more cumbersome to operate- always moving the skidee to dump, then relocate. Fine for occasional small jobs. Also limited on depth.
 
I've never ran one but I was told the ones that sit out front of the skidsteer have stabilizer legs that solid up the skidsteer. The one's that just hook on lift up and move the skidsteer all around when trying to dig or move to heavy a load. Like i said though i've never ran one thats just what I was told when I thought about getting one.
 
I've used a skid steer backhoe attachment. Very hard to reach back to reposition the machine. There are stabilizer legs and you can swing the boom side to side. The arm that goes on the quick attach is good for shallow trenching in easier digging conditions. It uses one cylinder operated by the aux. control and the boom and bucket functions. To swing, you have to steer the machine to the side. For occasional trenching just the arm would be a lot cheaper and not much to go wrong.
