Asparagus

Wife put salt on the asparagus to keep the grass/weeds down, the deer ate all the asparagus and some of the salt! So I made some wire cages and put around the two patches. This is wild asparagus that has been here for awhile. This year the deer are eating everything that doesn't have a wire cage around it!

last two years I have planted asparagus, two different kinds. now I am in the eastern part of North Carolina, not the foot hills anymore and the deer have about killed what I planted. we are in the process of relocating due to a new job and will be on the coast, if we can finally get a house. I plan to plant the purple passion asparagus when we finally close (if at all!). we like it better. the cages would be my choice to protect it if I had them. I would probably make some but we are not there except on some weekends.
