4 Way Hydraulic Valve Sticking

Loader valve on 6 year old tractor has started hanging up in one direction, up and down. It is supposed to spring back to center when released but it hangs up in both directions. Have to manually center it.

What do I have a sticking spring? Valve? Is it in the adapter where the hose comes out the valve. I have a joy stick controller but it's not doing the sticking.

Thanks,
Mark

Yes and that could be the problem. I shot the end of the cable
with lube and worked it back and forth, but the outer sheath has
a wiper for the inner and it doesn't have the chance to get
inside.

Where both cables (arms and bucket) enter the valve body, there
is a cylindrical protrusion off the body of about 2" about the size
of pressure reliefs on the other side of the body. Would like to
know what's in there and if I remove it what's going to come
falling out.

Thanks,
Mark

Every once in a while, I'll disconnect the linkage or cable and spin the valve spool half a turn.. Sounds like witchcraft , but it works..

Ok guys, anything come shooting out when you disconnect the cable end at the hyd dist box? I realize that you bleed off all pressure to the system via the joy stick and the tractor is off before you open anything up.

Thanks,
Mark

Roy, do you just remove the cable adapter at the main housing? Mine would be vertical with the housing vertical and above the cable adapter. Upon removing, the 2" cylindrical thing where the cable attaches could hold some things like a spring. The cylinder I assume would be just above the hole in the main housing. Spin it with your finger or how do you do it?

Thanks

The cable can be disconnected without "striking oil". Then the spool can be rotated in housing per Roy's suggestion. The spool normally can only be removed from housing on opposite end that lever.cable attaches.

Had a look and the problem was the return spring was binding. Cleaned it all up and works fine.

Seems the cable end comes out from the housing pulling the spool with it as you unscrew the 2" cylinder. When the whole shebang is out, you slide the 2" cylinder off and then you can get to the pin or whatever that connects the spool to the cable center wire. I didn't have to go that far. The problem was on the other side of the housing and easily accessed.
