Thought is was about time I save some money on gasoline, so I went out and got a fuel saver. That and I like the way it looks and drives.
It is only money and we ain't atken it with us.

Nice looking FLHTCU. I have one just like it but mine is lite Blue. Several years ago I & my wife rode from Iowa to Alaska. We rode a little over 17,000 mile on that 2 1/2 month trip. You are right it is only money. & you can"t take it with you. Gerald

Beautiful ride but I kinda doubt the mileage will be all that great. That sure makes my "Kamikaze" Vulcan look like a wimp. TDF

Sweet! You will love it. I bought a Road King three years ago. Last summer my wife & I put 5300 miles on it. My brother, whose owned Harleys for nearly forty years really encouraged me to get it. He said, "If you wait for just the right time to buy one, you'll be too old to ride it when the time comes". He was right. I'm glad we didn't wait any longer.

Never seen one that would do that. Friend had an older Dyna with the 80 CI engine only got about 30MPG, his new Fat Bob with the 102CI engine gets about 42 on his daily drive.

The only people that I've seen claim 60 are riding imports.

Nice looking ride! Every time I think about getting one someone else gets smeared on the pavement while riding one, kinda makes me think again about how good an idea that is for me.

(quoted from post at 16:05:56 06/05/13) Actually they get pretty good mileage. Properly tuned they can hit 60 mpg.

Glenn

He can tune it till his fingers bleed but he aint going to be getting 60. He wont even get 50 and it will be a good day if he breaks 40. Im not talking hypermiling, Im talking normal riding. Guys at work talk about 35-40 with the dressed bikes, one guy was proud of his 42 or 43 but he had to admit it was with straight gas, no ethanol. 883 guys talk about high 40s to low 50s. Like Dan said, to get high mileage, ya gotta ride an import. You ride a harley because its a harley....

dej(JED), thats one sweet ride, have fun on it.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. The
imports do NOT get the mileage of a Harley. I know for s
fact my brother's 2006 Ultra Classic eill get 60 mpg if you
hold it right st 55 mph. I haven't checked my 2006 Road
King yet, but I know it's getting over 50. Both cycles are
well tuned and have better flowing exhaust and air cleaners
than stock.

I will hold mine up to a GoldWing any day. They rarely get
over 40 mpg. I am certain of my details. We have a very
good friend we ride with that thinks GoldWings were made
on the 8th day. He has owned four Wings, and not one of
them gets the mileage of our Harleys.

Glenn

What is the HP of a Goldwing vs that of a Harley?

In outright performance the Ultra doesn't even come close to matching GoldWing in any catagory - fuel mileage, power, brakes, ride or handling.

Neither my or my brother's 2006s are stock. Brother's is bored out to 95 cu inch, and right around 100 hp. My King has had a little work done to it and is right at 80 hp. Both of them will waste a 1500 Wing. My brother's will take an 1800 wing.

Hey-I am just like everyone else, struggling day in and day out.
The old farm got sold and I come into a little cash, so I figured why not.

I dont believe that for a second, not even a fraction of a second. There is way too much evidence against such wild claims. Heck, just google "harley gas mileage" and you will see hundreds, if not thousands of responces of peoples mileage with some people having records of 50,000 to 100,000 miles for EACH bike they have owned over the years. NOBODY is getting the numbers you are claiming, that should be telling you something... Again, Im not talking hypermiling, Im talking riding. Average, normal riding and that kind of riding wont get a dressed bike anywhere close to 60.

My post aint intended to make a pissing match of mileage (although Im sure some will enjoy taking it that way) nor do I want to start a harley vs. "import" bash-a-thon. I was mearly pointing out the facts that Jed can "tune" his bike till his fingers fall off, 60mpg on that bike is simply never going to happen. Not even close, not with any sort of normal riding. But Im quite sure it wont have one wits effect on Jeds enjoyment of his new ride (nor should it).

You can agree to disagree all you want but I was just telling the truth and maybe I should have just kept quiet.
