A lady has to go into an Assisted Living facility and had to get rid of her Rag Doll cat. Her daughter wanted my wife to take her. She seems to be adjusting well. Hal

Looks like a Maine Coon. Friendliest and goofiest cat breed there is. They excel at shedding. Gotta brush 'em a couple of times a week.
 
Wait until Winter comes they grow even more fur and develop a big bib. When the Sun shines in the window you will be able to see all the loose fur floating in the air. Try to keep you dinner plate covered to keep the fur out. Nothing like cat fur stuck in your teeth.
 
You sound like my ex girlfriend and my sister. Both are deathly afraid to pet a cat because they might get a cat hair on them. Maybe that is why the girlfriend left and my sister never comes to see me. Dog hair don't seem to bother them, I can't stand dog hair.
 
No Thanks, got an extra dropped off here this weekend. Wasn"t one of yours was it? Sorry, had to send it packing. I GOT TWICE THE CATS I NEED AROUND HERE NOW.
 
When I was growing up, our cat was an outdoor animal. No leash law and everyone let their dogs run free. Our cat learned to jump onto the nose of a dog with both front paws and hang on. Those claws in that sensitive front nose "bulb" must have been terrible pain. I still see the dogs running with the cat hanging on. Plenty of noise from the dog.
 
I'm sure bringing the cat for a visit would be a great thing. SWIMBO & I used to that FIL's dog to see him & he would light up like a neon sign. That dog was the highlight of many residents day. Everybody in the rest home had to pet him when we brought him in. Of course he loved the attention.
Hope you can make it happen with the cat.
 
We thought there may be a problem with her adjusting to a new home, but she's very friendly
and likes our male cat so far. Hal
