Baling Hay Pics

After 2 or 3 minor showers early in the week, we finally got to bale some first cutting "idiot" cubes. It was a very windy afternoon up too 26 mph gusts, they said, so we had to follow the rake. Normally we would have baled on the wagons but because of the wind and short of help we had to put them on the ground. By the end of the day we had 570 to pick up and get to the barn before dark. The men helpers arrived around 5pm to load the wagons!

I am lucky to have women helpers, thank you Courtney and Olivia. And two of my grandkids rolled a few together for us.

great pics and the haying operation looks great as well, I wish I could have helpers like that also,, oh well I will stick to my way lol thanks for sharing,,, by the way what type of hay are you putting up looks like it produces well? cnt

That rotary rake is doing a good job. Nice thick hay too. What model NH baler is that?

KEH

NH 311....its well used now and would like a newer model. I am glad I have my JD round baler for backup....had to do that many times over the years.

Just plain old orchard grass, and whatever else volunteers its way into the field. I keep it fertilized and limed, and this years crop is looking good if I can stay ahead of the weather.

Man, I want one of those rotary rakes bad! I'm on hilly, ledgey land with a lot of open ditch drains. Seems like every few feet my basket type rakes are smacking the teeth into dirt or a rock. I think a rotary would be just the ticket. Just a few grand standing between me and it!

Idiot cubes....I like it! :p

Pictures like these put a smile on my face.Bring back lots of good memories. Never really minded bucking "idiot cubes". That is until we got high in the mow.
