ccs planters

Any of you guys had any experience operating ccs type corn planters? I have been operating a Bauer Built for several years now and have came against a problem. We have some corn seed that"s very large and round has 1260 seeds per lb. The problem is if ccs tank pressure is below 10psi it wont feed out of the ccs boxes and if its above 12 psi is stops up in the little seed boxes. We are running precision metering units. The seed salesman says to double up on the talc and raise tank pressure to 20psi. I agree with the talc but not the pressure, have done that before didn"t work. all other seed works just fine at about11 psi. Just wonder if you had any ideas. We are almost through planting have been over close to 7000 acres this year

Is there an option for bigger cups? I ran into a similar issue with a Deere a few years back. Switched seed size half way through, bigger seed would plug in the cups. Turns out Deere had an update with bigger cups. Worked like a champ after that.

And where would that be? Ag talk is not on this site, that I have been able to find! I think that you are a bigot!

We have a CCS and it definitely likes talc.Have had same exact problem and 10# max or less was better than 20#.We have found by running putting talc on before the seed goes thru seed tender seems to help. Some of the seed coating are more difficult than others. Some of the Pro Boxes we have to help get started as it is already set up during shipment. It is usually row 1 or 24 that bother.Question was asked at planter meeting and that tech recommended using graphite mix.

I have had this problem this year at the shop and the answer is lots of talc graphite mix beings your running precision units, probably up to 2 cups per bag, (50lb bag) so for those using totes run about 2 cups per 50lbs. This year at least in this area there has been some humidity issues with the seed treatment. And with beans here some guys have had to run 3+ cups of talc 50lbs of bean seed.
