I havent driven that many miles, but ive seen some pretty crazy stuff too.

i really like the chicks who put their makeup on while driving down the freeway in the morning using the mirror in thier visor

Stayed in a motel 2 yrs ago in PA...next morning this guy was having breakfast, all covered in cuts and with his dirty clothes all well ripped....He explained that he had been driving his lorry/semi while reading a book and drove straight across a crossroads/intersection...managed to 'T' bone another semi, both vehicles wrote off!!! He went on to say he read many times whilst driving and this was the first time he had an accident!
99% of human beings are caused by accidents!!!!

I can relate to the guy, but hopefully he"s not driving. I have a lot of long red lights on my commute to work and back every day, and I"ve had this job for a long time. Back when I was in marching bands, I kept my Eb alto horn or euphonium in the front seat on those commutes. Whenever I got stuck at a long red, or needed 2, 3, 4 cycles to get through an intersection, I used the wasted time to practice songs for the upcoming event. I just picked up the horn and started playing. It was an effective way to drown out the boom-boom rap music coming from other cars, too. I never drove while holding an instrument, though. It was always when stopped.

Sousaphone was my main instrument for a few years, but I never could figure out how to play one in the car, so I switched to smaller brass horns. I saw a guy driving down the highway one day in the summer while playing a guitar and singing loudly. The neck of his guitar was sticking out the open window. Must have been steering with his knee.

This guy was driving, but only bout 45 on the freeway. He was really workin that horn too, his fingers were flying. lol

About ten years ago a guy layed his truck over on route 6 in west-central Indiana. Girl came running out of her house to try to help him, to find him crawling out of the truck buck naked. He was trying to change his clothes with the cruise set, coming up on a set of curves that were all you could do at 55, if you were paying attention.

Hey, Dave!
Whata coincidence. I started in 4th grade with trumpet, changed to Baritone in 5th, sousaphone 8th-12th, played tuba, baritone and trombone in college. Came home after one summer cleanout with an Eb ALTO HORN! Do they still write music for it or do you play with other instruments? Do you transpose?
Please respond.
Bruce

Bruce, the only music I find for the alto is marching band music. Otherwise, I just transpose with trombone or baritone music. I played the alto (and tuba and accordion) in some polka bands up North too, and we just played by ear and improvised. That was a blast. Now I don't play horns much other than in the annual TubaChristmas, usually with a euphonium but sometimes the alto. Being in the South now, I've played bluegrass a lot on the bass fiddle. Dave
