Tody was cloudy and rainy but an eagle landed in a tree by the house and let me get some pictures of him. Amazing to see these birds fly! John

Was today payday?
Great pic's! Looks like the eagle was doing a little warming on the tree. Amazing how they can soar with very little wing movement.

Don't think he was warming, there were 2 crows bugging him and I think he was holding his wings out to look bigger or scare them. It was fun to watch...John

WAY back while I was getting my pilots license my instructor and I saw one and decided to go over and get a pic of him. When we got close he was at about 2,000 ft and circling an updraft. We tried to get a bit closer but he just kept rising in the updraft. We circled under him while climbing at full power all the way from 2,000 ft to 12,000 ft and never got close. We could see him look under his wing at us but he never worried and never left the updraft and never once flapped his wings. When we left him we figured him at about 15,000 ft and still climbing but our 152 Cessna topped out at 12,000 that day. That was a great day.
