Ohhhh, I want one! How adorable.

Just curious...

What is a ballpark price for a miniature horse? Not a pedigreed one.

Also, what is a ballpark price for a regular sized horse? Again, nothing with pedigreed breeding lineage.

I like the hat. And the feed bucket matches! Mom and dad had 2 minis, medium brown with dorsal stripe. One is 28" and the other is 30". They only had one offspring each as dad could only handle the tension once. Everything worked out OK but he decided once is enough. After both my parents died, my youngest brother got the horses. They are about 22 years old now and still lively. But my dad was an IH fan. No Oliver hat for him, even as we have an Oliver 1650 since 1967.

These days you can find plenty regular horses for free. Having said that there is no such thing as a free lunch or a free horse. Feed/hay/vet bills/farrier bills/wormer/blankets/bedding/dentist bills/fencing/...

Daughter's devotion to the horses is priceless though.

You can buy in normal times a very nice looking well tempered mini for 300 bucks. I have bought registered for as low as 150 taking two when they just needed them gone and now. I paid 200 for this little ones dad but he was way under fed and the lady had been out of work for some time. I almost walked away but Dixie had faith that I could save him so we brought him home. I have paid a lot more also in years past.

He came back to looking good even though it took several months.

My one Grand Daughter deals and trains riding horses as well as contests with them. She tells me when she gets a different horse but never told me the price nor have I ask.

Actually one mini will cost less to feed than a dog or cat If If you have your own hay. If you have to buy hay it can get expensive. My 9 I fed thru last winter to now used up over 300 bales. I plan on putting up 400 bales for next winter. Vet bills can eat you up if you have some bad luck.

Thanks.

Being that we don't have hay ground... and when thinking about vet bills - I am pretty sure I won't get my husband to agree with getting one. But they sure look like a lot of fun.
