Garden comming along.

Yep. spuds are peeking out of the ground. Seems like the time tables are running amok. Peach trees survived the 2nd year. Walnut trees are doing great too.all the produce plants are in with the exception of sweet potatoes.Northern Wisconsin weather is uncertain but holding in the 60-70 range. Talked to our local potato farmer,who we worked for years ago, he said he's running behind schedule,about 60% total fields done,he farmes around 8-10,000 acres. Talked to him about finding a french fry cutter,he said you can order them,but after we explained we wanted the small size,like Mcdonalds fries,less than 1/4", he said youre right,can't seem to get those. We have the one that does 5/16" sorta,it is still too thick for our liking,so we will hand cut them. The farmer said he is only going to plant a few red potato's, so we said we will bring him some more of ours when they were ready. His reply,"Just leave them on the porch,if I not here, I'll know where they came from". We both agreed the Russet Burbanks are the best potato for us,real solid and hold their size without too much shrinkage,when stored.

I have a feeling the Local Soup kitchen will be a beneficiary of our garden this year,It's nice to help some one down on their luck.

Here is the same type of cutter with replacable blades that goes down to 1/8 inch.
