Farmall 460 diesel hydraulic problems

I have a bad hydraulic steel line. I have cut out the bad section. Can I put a piece of hydraulic hose on put in in the middle of the lines with hose clamps or is it to much pressure?

Too much pressure. If it is out in the open you could double flare the steel or weld/braze a fitting on and put flared style hose on it. We patched using braze years ago to fix small cracks and holes. It is better to replace it altogether.

I've got a few on some Olivers with compression fittings. Where I get hoses made, they have the press on fittings with the steel compression fittings on them. On one steering line I bought a new piece of steel line and put it on with a brass compression fitting. I was told it likely wouldn't work, but it's been on there for five or six years now. Keep in mind though, that one only has pressure on it while the wheels are being turned.

I just had a hose made with a compression fitting on 1 end and pipe thread on the other. Very common fix for those pesky lines.
