Went to a farm sale today looking to buy a tractor and ended up with this thing. It's a 1947 dodge 201 one ton pickup that was being restored when the owner died.I have the bed and everything else in my shop.It doesn't have the original engine though.I don't know anything about these.

I'm with everyone else definitely NOT a Dodge, probably a Diamond T and way cooler (and more valuable) than a Dodge.

It's a Diamond T for sure. I think the original engine was a big old slow revvin' flathead 6 with gobs of low end torque. I think it may have been a Hercules. You're gonna have a show stopper when it's done no matter what engine is in it.

Yes that is a Diamond T for sure. It came with a flathead straight-six Hercules motor and a 4 speed trans that had a granny 1st gear. You drove it just using 3 gears most of the time. Had a VERY low rear end so it was not fast but could pull anything as long as you could keep traction.

They were not cheap costing more than other brands of trucks.
They were very nice looking. I do not know for sure buy seem to remember the grill was stainless steel and had full chrome wheel covers.
The windshields should also tilt out at the bottom for ventilation.
Fully restored that truck is worth a large chunk of change.

Man, someone has already done a ton of work to that thing! You got lucky. You will have a real showpiece when you finish.

As soon as I saw the picture last evening I knew something was wrong because I knew that was no Dodge as the 47 is the same body as the 46 that we had. Now the question is you say farm sale was it an auction and if it was did they have any other trucks there that the title could have gotten mixed up with. And all the auctioneers in the area should have known better that the truck was not a Dodge, a few that I would question tho. Now it would be up to the auctioneer to correct that title. If a private farm sale then go back to the sellers and ask them to look for the correct title and get that title for the Dodge to the purchaser of that truck if it still exists and get the title from your truck from the purchaser of the Dodge.

I have lived in your area All my life of 69 years and only knew of one of them and that was owned when new by the Firestone store in downtown Wapakoneta in the 50's and no the store being a Firestone store did not sell tires there, It was located on the east end of the bussiness section of town on Auglaize street on the south side and it was red and if you trace yours far enough back it may be that truck.

As others have already said: it's a Diamond T,
looks like maybe a Chevy engine. The grill
should be chrome..perhaps it's been painted over ?
