Corn spraying question?

I sprayed corn today with Halex GT. Everything went fine until I finished, and saw that I forgot to put the amonia sulfate in. The Southern States guy showed up while I was putting everything thing in, and I forgot. How screwed am I? In the book on the jug it says you have to use sufactant, and sulfate, but it doesn't say why or what happens if you dont. What does the amonia sulfate do? Did I waste $300 of chemical?

I sparyed some corn last year with halix. I did not use the amonia but I did use the surfactant. Mine worked well. I do not believe you will be harmed by no amonia but the jury is still out on the surfactant.

No, you did not waste all your money. The adding of AMS (a nitrogen product) increases the absorption of the chemical into the weed tissue and therefore increases the kill rate. For the cost it pays to have it in the tank but your chemical should work without it.

surfactant is very important and that's what AMS is. I would be very surprised if your happy with the results. lots of times if I have a bad weed problem; I up the surfactant and leave the roundup at the same rate.

Depends how soft your water is. If it's pretty hard AMS will help more than if it's fairly soft. The local elevator doesn't mess with AMS when they spray but maybe the water doesn't require it. Jim
