Check out Seats Inc. of Reedsburg, Wi.. They make seats for turf machines. They also make seats for trucks and tractors.

many times a farm store will have soimilar seats as you see online.. though more $$

hit the farm stores. look at the seats.. then order of YTmag if ya like it and save the $$

I wish there was a way of putting an old Farmall seat, big spring and shock, on all my other tractors and mowers.

I too have back issues and just love mowing with a 63 year old farmall C with a 6 ft belly mower. Nothing beats the comfort.

Get off every hour and walk at least 100 yards all the time stretching as your walking.
Put a piece of foam rubber on the platform under your feet so the vibration is dampened coming up through your legs to your back.
These are suggestions from my back doctor.

Search Ebay, I found a new exact replacement seat for my 5105 for a lot less than Deere sells it for. There are many different types of tractor seats on there. Also Northern Tool has seats.

Most comfortable Mower seat I have ever found is a Front seat out of an early (1973-1975) Ford Van..

Very comfortable and cheap, too..

Check out the link that TECH5201 posted below. That is the same seat I ordered. I broke my tailbone 10 years ago this summer and it didnt heal right.

That seat made a world of difference on my zero turn. The local Exmark dealer was charging $600 for them. I tried to order direct from Michigan Seat company, they wouldnt sell. So I went through Northern Tool.

Combine this seat with the 4 wheel independent suspension on my Ferris zero turn... almost as smooth as a Caddy. Well, not quite, but a great improvement on my tailbone.

I have been working on that problem for years. I have Fescue clumps, cow hoof holes, and black clay cracks. I have yet to find a decent suspension seat even up at $250. I even added shock absorbing front struts to my ZT and it helped but not much.

I even bought an air cushion that 18 wheelers use and it helped but again, not much. My full size Ford tractors don't do much better with a rotary cutter.

What works is an air suspension seat that comes with a built in air pump. You can set the pressure to what suits you and that works.

I learned the expensive way that there are at least 2 types of suspension seats. I got a good seat at a good price from the small engine wharehouse but found out it had a single piviot suspension that isn't much account. I blame myself for not knowing about all the different types made. Make sure you get a full 4 piviot suspension. Those really float up and down nice.

I checked out their turf seating just now. Like most, it has the mechanical mechanism and it is better than nothing, but it is bumpy through the movement process from zero to max, and when you get the spring loose enough to give you ride improvement, you have no reserve so that when you hit a big bump you bottom out and smash your tail bone just like on a tractor.

Thanks anyway.

I just looked in my NT catalog and online and that number isn't in there and the online NT search engine can't find it.

What sort of seat is it?

Mark

Mark,
Do you think the problem are the ZT's? I know many think ZT's are the greatest thing. They can go lightning fast, turn on a dime and jar your teeth loose.

I look at ZT as being dangerous, pain meds, sinus meds and a bath after you use them. A parks worker died when his ZT went for a swim in a lake. I've heard many stories about ZT's ending up in a ditch. I want a steering wheel. Yet to drive a tractor in the lake.

I've had back issues for a long time. I need a large wheelbase. A slow farm tractor is like driving a caddy.

I've heard that some ZTs don't use springs, because they could bounce you off the seat at high speeds.

Texasmark,
I just tried that link and it worked perfectly. Make sure you copy the link [b:3b5be0a734]exactly.[/b:3b5be0a734]
It is a nice looking unit from Michigan Seat Company - Reg priced at $349.99 now on sale at $329.99. I didn't check shipping cost, though.

I did a cut and paste and it didn't. I have a Mac. That may have
been a problem.

What is the makeup of the cushioned support part of the seat?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
The ad says polypropylene. Supposed to be weather resistant and UV resistant.
I'm not sure I want armrests on a tractor seat, but it says they can be installed in three positions, so I take from that is that they are removable. They might not be in the way too badly anyway.
