Sickle Mower Rock Guards

I have been having trouble posting and this may have been asked earlier.
I am considering fabrication of a tooth bar for a front end loader bucket. I know some people have made them, using Guards for teeth, but I would like to know what kind of steel most are made of. I assume they are cast iron and that would not be the best steel.
I have eight MF BR41 Teeth.

Siclke bar mower rock guards are not suitable for FEL bucket rock guards due to lack of strength.

I think most guards are made of maleable iron so they can be bent slightly, if necessary, as a means of adjustment.

Don't hear much about maleable iron anymore, but it's still being used for certain things as a means of adjusting for better performance. Most knotter assemblies contain several maleable iron parts. However, maleable iron does not have much strength and can be broken if it is bent too far.

You did ask (just so you know you were not dreaming. I said they were Malliable iron, or mild steel. Not suitable for your use on a loader bucket. Spike tooth drag teeth, slabs cut from truck leaf springs, or other spring steel is good. Jim

Thanks for your SECOND reply. As stated, I was having posting problems here but asked the same question on other forums with a few results.
I even did a search and came up with nothing.
Evidently my problem is solved and I am satisfied to NOT build with Rock Guards.
As always THREE times the replies of any other forum.

Have used rail road spikes on a small tractor bucket in a pinch. Didn't let them extend a long way from bucket edge to minimize bending. Not an ideal solution, but it filled the need at the time. As others said, mower guards would work harden from bending and would likely break. Good luck!
