discing asparagus?

neighbor wants to know if I will disc his asparagus for him - apparently someone told him by discing it up it will cause the roots to spread and increase the number of plants? Anyone ever heard of this? And if so, wouldn't you do that in the fall as opposed to spring or atleast after spring production is done?

my neighbor use to disc his in the fall.seem to have a lot more plants the next spring.

As production of the asparagus slows, cultivating it will INCREASE production.

Discing it will STOP it"s growth for the year.

Do it in the fall. Local guy runs his tiller through his set shallow. Then he salts it. Works for him.
