International 347 fuel mileage

Wondering what kind of mileage to expect from a gas 347 in a medium duty. Found a couple older trucks here locally one is 5sp manual and one is auto. Wont be using it alot. Stock/ hay hauler within 50 miles from home. Both are asking in the $3500 range which seems alittle high to me for a gasser.

depends how you drive it and the gearing in rear end. ours we drove under 55mph, was5 speed with two speed rear, and was lucky to get 10mpg. good old international load star 1600.

I never worry about fuel mileage. I put in 5 gallons or so, and run it until the needle seems like it don't want to move, then put more in it.
Feller at gas station wanted to put more in than i wanted. I told him ok, except he'd pay for the excess. That cooled his ferver! The emission fittings, under rear quarter panel leaks, new parts cost almost $300!
Some wag asked why i don't buy a new car. I told him-this one starts, runs and drives, and stops when i want it to! A new car won't do much more than that, except flatten my savings account!

My first real drive on the highway car was a 66 fairlane station wagon. My buddies used to rag me about It I told them that I'm here now and don't have any doubt it getting me home and any girl that rides in it is wanting to be with me.

Could it be a 345 v 8 engine. Never heard of a ih 347. When we ran them is pick ups and scouts got around 12 to 15 mi per gal but in the two ton trucks like 1600 and 1700 around 6 or 7 mi per gal.
