My brother is going to paint my Farmall H for me.I am going to get paint, Hardner & thinner. He said I could get Acetone instead of thinner. Just wondering what most of you guys use. thanks.

Get whatever the Paint reccomends. I use Van Sickle paint , their hardner, but NAPA's "reducer" and lacquer thinner to clean up with. Some hardners and paint will not mix.
I would not use acetone!

Definitely get what the paint maker recommends. Some reducers and thinners, etc. don't mix at all. You can ruin a gallon of expensive paint or a paint job with the wrong stuff.

I assume it's an alkyd paint you are talking about. You could use paint thinner however napatha works better if you are spraying it. Acetone is too strong. It is more likely to lift the existing paint you are painting over. It is certainly going to lift the second coat of paint if you use one. If you have ever used paint and varnish remover on enamel, the way it wrinkles up is how the second coat would do.
