OT - Small Engine Cross Reference/Standards

OK two years back or so wife was using the riding mower and mowing a slope and starved the mower for oil bricking the engine. Found another mower used, but in pretty decent shape on CL (Cub Cadet 1525). Fast Forward to today and she is mowing the same slope and guess what...

Engine is a Kawasaki FH430V which must be a decent piece of machinery for the price I see replacements going at (upwards of $1000). Are small engines like this made to standard dimensions? Can I look for some sort of clone engine and get it to match up with the mower? Is the engine worth trying to re-build? Don't really have time right now for this kind of thing, but sure hate to just run out and pick up yet another mower.

Think I am going to move a fence so the slope in question becomes part of the pasture.

I have never used slick fifty, and probably wouldn't recognise it if I did see it! I keep a small inventory of chrysler LA engines and related parts in a dedicated storage shed. Among my 2- 360's, and my 3- 318's, I have a 1975 360, from a forestry truck, that was reputed to have had slick fifty used in it. The stripped cylinder walls, are still shiny, except for dust, and the ring groove can verily be felt with a fingernail. The other blocks have also been stripped for several yr's, and have a light coating of rust in the cylinders. The other blocks were coated with an oily rag and 30 wt motor oil. Must be something to slick 50!

I've heard it said, that the first pass through
a full flow oil filter will take 90% of the
Slick product out !
