Watch out this time of year

This fellow was laying at the edge of my tractor shed. Watch where you step and put your hands since it has warmed up.

Yep, copperhead.

I haven't seen but a couple of water snakes out yet but I did pick up a piece of plywood that was leaning on the shed last weekend and found about 50 scorpions heading in every direction. ...tempo time!

nasty sneaky and mean they will let you walk by then nail you from behind, at least a rattler lets you know he is there.

That's a great pic, we had a cat named Bigfoot as kids, my dad decided to keep her since she was so ornery, she lived to be 18 years old, she went into kidney failure. She was an out door in door cat. None of mine are today because of the road. There indoor only.

Ben lucky on pennies. Knock on wood. Only one in 30+ years and it was on the road in front of the house and I can't tell if It came from me or what.

Have had 2 Moccasins and 2 diamond back water snakes. The Mocs are in snake heaven, the other I don't worry about.

The cat killer is a great animal. Never saw that before but it surely earned it's supper (after it gets over eating the snake).

When my girls were young they had a female cat they named ,Garfield, and that was the snake killingest cat I ever saw.You could start mowing hay in a field and she'd be walking around and bingo she'd just like the pics that the fella put in here.I dont and still dont care for cats but she was the exception

Speaking of copperheads and scorpions. When I was stationed at Ft. Hood way back when and out in the bushes and tall grass, heard some thrashin around in the grass, and was a copperhead that made the mistake of slithering over a huge nest of fire ants. They came out of that hole in record time and there was nothing left of that guy within minutes. And then I sat on a rotted tree trunk. Got up, put my boot on it and kicked some rotted bark off, never seen so many scorpions scatter like that. The more bark I kicked off, the more of them there were. And I was sitting on them. And one time I too was standing on a somewhat soft mound and got bit on the hand by something. Looked down, fire ants all over my NBC suit. Good thing I was wearing it, and good thing was a bunch of fellow soldiers there to knock them off after took a few steps and dove on the ground to try and rub them off. Goodness gracious. A day in life can be boring, or exciting.

Never seen one like that. Unless it has rattles on the end of the tale it is harmless around here in Calif. Your snake does have the head of a bad snake. Stan

It's a copper head so you can add it to your list of rattlers, moccasins, coral snakes, and copperheads, US poisonous snakes and I guarantee you that snake can do you a lot of harm.
