problems in the fuel system

I am having trouble with a 1135 massey ferguson tractor with the 354 perkins diesel engine. I have a surging in the engine while it is running. The engine is getting air into the fuel system causing it to die eventually. The lift pump is new. Any suggestions??

check the banjo bolt on top of the fuel filter that hooks to the fuel return, there is a small hole in the bolt to allow air to bleed off,sometimes it gets plugged,had a 1100 with the same problem as yours after about 3 days of it we noticed that one of the fuel was seeping fuel at the filter the rubber olive as some call them had deteriorated and allow air to be draw into the filter

if its like the 1105 the lift pump have a screen in it take the top off clean the screen and the gunk out of ot should work better
