local military show + some tractors, pics.

WE had a military show at the sussex county fair grounds today and we opened our machine club barn as part of the show and brought in some of our tractors and trucks to show. the second picture is some of the vets that belong to the club. chuck

What a beautiful day it was. I have never been to that fairground. It looks real nice. I know there is a Crawfish festival coming up with lots of Cajun food. I don't even know where the Sussex fairground is although I must have drove past it in my travels. Nice pics.

Ben, that's exactly what it is , a truck 409 (small ports) with a tri-power off a 348, Comp. Cams cam, electronic ignition, truck 4-speed stick with 4 wheel drive and 320 something gears in the rears, nice old rig. Chuck Oh and it has modern A/C

For my money that Blue Dodge Power Wagon takes the cake. Did you know that it was tested at Nebraska? Test #454. In test G it pulled slightly more than a Massey Harris 55.

Bill, The blue Power Wagon belongs to the secretary of the antique engine club, I like it best to. We are going to rebuild the engine this fall. I read the Nebraska test, it did a little better, but it took twice the amount of fuel to to it lol. Said it made 42.4 hp on the belt and i read that the engine has a crank horse power rating of about 113 hp. Kind of makes me wonder what some of the old tractors made at the crank. Chuck

Seen a few 409s,worked on a few but never saw one in a 'bourbon. Bout flipped. What a horse!
