It seem early and too cold here in Illinois but found the first tick of the year. I hope this doesn't mean a bad year for them?

Been finding the d@mn things for about a month down here in SW MO. Dogs play in push piles and then bring their new pets home with them.

Keep a watch out, an employee from our shop in NWARK is recovering from a hospital stay with Rocky Mtn Spotted fever from a tick bite.

The slickest way to remove ticks is a little device called a Tick Off, available at pet stores. It looks like a plastic kitchen measuring spoon, with a tapered slot cut in it. Just get the slot in front of the tick, move it up on him, and he comes right out- I guess it moves the mandibles together, and unhooks him. Doesn't even kill the tick. Tick ends up in the spoon, ready for execution and disposal.

Here is central Virginia they've been noticable for the past few weeks. Winter was wet and cool without being too cold. Perfect to launch the little bas***ds. Just in time for the stink bugs to move outdoors and the asian ladybugs to hatch. If we can just get a good hybrid between kudzu and poison ivy....

Shoot here in Missouri the Lake of the Ozarks area I found the first one a month ago. The other day when I went and picked moral mushrooms with the wife I found 5 plus and did the good old bleach bath so make sure they where none I had missed

Just a Couple of Days ago, here in North Ga, i found One on My Arm... Hope it's a NOT a bad year, We had a Really mild winter Here in ga,, Larry

I use about a half cup of bleach to a full hot soaking tube of water. Epsom salts also works by the way. The bleach does not get them off as such if they have bitten your already but if they are just looking for a nice place to get you they will fall off

They"ve been out for at least a month now and are really bad in e. Tx.

Have to keep an eye on the dog or they"ll suck her dry. Get a couple dozen off her every few days. Found them under her dew claws, in between her pads, deep down in her ears, etc. Will start feeding her some garlic this weekend.

Wife saw the first one on the ceiling of the kitchen on Saturday here in SE Michigan. Was surprised considering how cold it's been. Had been letting the dogs roam in the brush and checked them and found none. But the flea and tick medicine went on them on Sunday.

Also a persons diet can make a big difference as to how bad you have problems with ticks. Eating or taking garlic or garlic pills helps a lot to keep them off you as will eating hot peppers and other such things

side-bar but true. years ago neighbor's wife was cooking while old english sheepdog slept on kitchen floor. She turned away from the sink, stumbled over the dog and dumped an entire pan of green peas onto the dog. Dog jumped up and made a commotion which drew husband's attention. "Good Lord" he shouted unaware of what set it off, "look at the ticks on that dog!" Still makes me chuckle.

My first was yesterday (Central Ohio). Thought I felt something on my neck and it dropped right onto the laptop. Took great delight in smashing the little bugger. Honestly the first tick I've found in years around our place.

I put Ivomec pour on on my dogs and have no fleas or ticks on them . Same stuff I use for the cows . If one bites them it dies and dries up and falls off . One ml per 22 lb. pour between the shoulder blades . The vet will tell you ya cant put it on dogs but they want to sell you the high $ stuff . I have spilled enough on me that I know it dont hurt you none !

for years We were inundated with ticks until the fire ants moved in. Several people I know got Lyme disease 10 or 12 years ago but I haven't seen a tick in about 5 years. I could send you some fire ants.

We have them pretty much year round, in north central Nebraska. To many trees along the river I guess.
