We've been dry here going on 3 years, we put in a Ritchie 5 or 6 years back. I like it so well that I'm installing a 4 hole here on my place where the pics of the pond are. Great for wintering and providing clean water in August. At the moment there is a tank or self waterer in all of my pastures. The pond should be 15-20 ft deep at it's deepest point, it is down to solid rock. We have had a little more snow and a few showers this spring, had an inch today in a wintery mix. It's been too wet for field work but we haven't had enough yet to produce much run off.

Beautiful. That's the way to water cows. Pond water is notoriously contaminated. Would you drink the water than ran off your pasture?

Getting the place spruced up. Looking good. How long were the former owners on the place? I'm betting 100 plus years.

Mr and Mrs Hoy bought the farm in 1944, I believe they bought it from her parents. Mr Hoy spent his life farrowing sows in the stalls of the old barn, he passed away in 93 or 94 and Mrs Hoy lived here until 2006. Needless to say the place needed some updates. The original section of the house was built in 1880 and the barn must have been built closely thereafter. I'm proud to revitalize the place and keep it going.
