Carburator for a Farmall M

These past three weeks have been my worst. I have called these tractor parts up looking for a gasoline Carburator. I thouhgt I had one Farmall Parts but when i got it the gasoline ran in to it and then ran out of it like there was no float. I called them up and they said to me sorry we do not have any more rebuilt one to send to you. They claim that they are a rare carburator for the farmall M tractors. Question is how many of these tractors where Gasoline and are they really rare I ask.(Hard to find they say)I soon found out that yes they are out there to get just the wrong place to buy one. Thanks to all of your help again .

IH only made about 250,000 Ms. All with basically the same carburetor.

Why are you buying a carburetor? The only reason to buy a whole carburetor is if yours is completely missing, or is smashed to pieces.

Carburetors can be rebuilt. It can be tricky at first and will probably take you several tries to get it right on your first carburetor.

Even a "rebuilt" carburetor shipped to you usually needs to be taken apart and adjusted. It was just thrown, kicked, shaken, rolled, and crushed at least a dozen times while UPS had it.

The Farmall M was in fact a gas tractor and are almost as common as dirt. As for a carb nnalert list them rebuilt and this site may even have them new or rebuilt. The Farmall M was made from 1939 to 1952 by the way

Rare heck, I had a spare on the shelf up til about two weeks ago sold it on ebay. Which was a pain. They are listed on there all the time. There really isnt a need to buy another unless something is broken or missing. Just rebuild the one you have.

chances are, your carb was rebuilt in good faith, just got knocked out of whack during shipment as others said. bet you can open it up, [or have it done] & find float hung, stuck, sprung, etc. no fault of rebuilder. had this happen to me a couple of times on carb I fixed for somebody. also real easy to pick up a piece of trash during change-out

I have rebuilt several; they are NOT RARE unless you ask a computer "expert" behind the counter of some parts store.
