Mc Cormick Deering WD-6 Magneito rebuild

We are rebuilding a 1942 McCormick Deering --WD6. We had the magneito rebuilt and we still can't get it to start. When we turn the mag over by hand, we have spark-but when it is installed on the engine we do not. We installed it according to the service manual. The tractor starts on gas and the it runs on diesel. Help!

Is it the correct mag for the engine? IH gas-start diesel mags rotate the opposite direction from the rotation of IH straight gasoline engine mags. If the rotation IS correct, have you checked for spark with the "kill" wire disconnected from the mag?

Make sure its grounded.Sounds like you got to much paint on that tractor

A hot mag will jump through the paint.
