rains it pours

Van broke dropping kids off wed am , not sure whats wrong yet . Been raining none stop for 3 days . Creek is flooding ,pretty close to neighbors house . will be over sand bagging and helping them move stuff later today I'm sure . Roof started leaking last night ,right over the bed. Stretch of basement wall not back filled yet, all covered up with tarps hoping it's okay .Went from frozen ground to solid rain here. Wife mad because she has to drive truck while I fix van ,told her "beats walking " lol that went over well . This all is a drop in the bucket I guess compared to folks down in Texas. I can deal with this crap. Prayers out to them.

3 inches in the last 24hrs, 3 1/2 since Sunday. We needed the rain, and it did come relatively slow. Sooo as they say, Rain makes grain. Yes prayers to West Texas and Boston gobble

Send all that to East Texas, I have two ponds and a water hole (swampy place). None has been full in 3 or 4 years. The ponds are not 1/3 full right now. SEND IT ON DOWN.

We have been getting a lot of rain I would bet 5-7 inches in the last ten days. It has fell near perfectly. It will rain maybe an inch or two and then stop for awhile. There really has been very little run off for the amount of rain we have gotten. It sure has changed the outlook for crops this year. We may get dry later but we will have some sub soil moisture now. We had very little before now.

Here in northeast Missouri we've had about 3.7" in the last 24 hours. The rivers are all full (or more so) and some bridges have been taken out in the area. I think it's safe to say the drought is over..:( The water all had a place to go up to now so anything from here on out will run off. Mike

Sounds like it's about the same all over. I've had 3 inches since four o'clock yesterday. Nine and a half since a week ago Monday.

An old cow had twins yesterday and abandoned one. I messed around and bottle fed it about two hours after she had it. She walked off and left it about mid afternoon,so I went and got it and brought it up in the barn. There's one here that lost her calf Sunday,so we chased her around in the mud for about a half hour after the drizzle started trying to get her in the barn with it. Had to give up. Caught her in one of the barns this morning in the rain. We drove her through the bull pen and finishing pen and got her with the calf finally, but we were both a wet sloppy mess after we got her in.

WHY haven't I retired yet?!

Anyway, here's a few random shots. Only one of those is an actual pond.

Where in Iowa are you from? Im in western Iowa and am thrilled to get the rain, ....wish we had some warmer temps.....but very glad to get the rain!

Wheat fields under water this morning. Had 4" over the last 48 hours and most of that in the last 24. Soaked before it started raining so lots of run-off. Mist now and maybe snow before it is over. Rain forecast Saturday night thru at least next Wednesday. Would gladly share.

5 inches of rain here in the last 24 hours. Schools are closed and several roads were closed too.

Power went out for a couple hours last night. I had the generator hooked up for a while to keep the sump pump going. Well this morning I had 3 feet of water in our basement. Sump pump failed sometime must have been early in the night. New pump and 3 hours later its empty. Water heater pilot would light but not stay lit. Would the high water screw up the thermocouple or did it most likely screw up the whole valve?

Thanks for the offer David. Rain stoped here for awhile , creek still on the rise, roof is getting tarp on it tonight till I figure out what to do . Leaning toward steel ? Never done one yet ,may be time to learn how .

Ya understand the leaks in the roof. Thought I had them fixed just to get up this morning to a wet kitchen floor. Guess when I fixed the one in the kitchen while walking on the roof I just moved the leak bad this is I now have 4 or 5 instead of just the one. Have to wait for it to stop raining to do mor and that will be 2 or 3 days if I am lucky
