watching programs on t-v, that they reverse and forward a section to rewatch [replay] over and over, i hate that, once is enough, no wounder why they never have much of a show, when they keep repeating the same thing over and over...

Yep, I agree, like you completely forgot over the commercial break, we were watching Mountian Men and they were doing that.

You mean where they have seven minutes of program,go to six minutes of commercials, then come back and review the last five minutes that they showed before the commercials?

One of the advantages God gave to man over the other animals is we were given a prehensile thumb. So why don't you try holding that remote in your 4 fingers and using that thumb, push the off button?
It never ceases to amaze me how people will sit glued to the tube all day and then complain about the programming.
I say kill your television.
You and your family will be happier, smarter and more blessed without it.

I called Charter a couple months ago and told them to turn mine off. I've only missed it one time. It was a rainy/cold Saturday afternoon. I figure if I only miss it once every 2 months it's not worth the $75 every month...

bad thing is, some are right,,when i'm not doing somthing outside [weather], but when you do watch t-v, darn if it isn't same programs another time of day...lol

That is why I have Netflix. If there is something I want to watch, an old show or a movie, I watch it on my schedule.

My backup system is an antenna on the roof which lets me watch free TV from a few different cities.

The link will let you know what you have in the area.

I am fairly young compared to most of you so I am probably the exception. When I was a kid growing up, we did not have TV. My siblings and I entertained ourselves. We spent countless hours outside exploring the countryside and playing with each other. I also spent many hours reading books from Mom's extensive library. I suppose since I did not grow up with TV, it was no great lose to continue without TV now that I am an adult and on my own. I still read books and have other projects to occupy my time. I do have a TV with which to watch DVD movies, but I do not receive regular programming, and to be perfectly honest, I don't miss it.

Ended up taking the roof antenna down. Since the end of analog TV signals there are no stations available where we are located. Never watched much before so really didn't miss it when it went away.

we do not have cable or dish or any of that pay stuff,we have a wood cabinet floor model tv. from the late 80s.with a converter box and rabbit ears we get major network tv.but mostly watch a retro station called MEtv mostly stuff from 60s or70s. those reality type shows do not hold my intrest, court tv does not hold my intrest and nearly all of primetime network tv contain ideals and promote lifestyles that i do not agree with

All three of my kids (all grown, married, 2 with kids) have TV's, but none of them have any programing service or antennas. They just use them for DVD's, and some are hooked into the computer so they can "stream" stuff. Videos are not a regular thing- mostly read and do projects. My kids are sure better parents than they had growing up!

I clicked on that link, and went through the drill down. I can get only ONE over the air channel, and it is PBS.

AntennaWeb isn't that great. It's pretty fudged-up when checking my address.

Try TV FOOL: http://www.tvfool.com Click on "check my address for free tv.

or RabbitEars: http://www.rabbitears.info/search.php and do the "address search" and click the "signal strength" box. Set the radius box to 100 (even if you feel it's not pratical).

Try different antenna heights at both websites.
