link to pics of Worthington, MN ice storm

That's rough! Looks kinda like it did in the winter of 02 here. There is an oak tree in the edge of the woods below the house that is over three feet in diameter at the base and about 75 feet tall. It was a beautifully shaped tree, until then. It broke so many limbs off that it is no longer the "acorn (apple) of my eye." Thanks for the post 'cause I didn't watch any news today.

We had then same thing west of there in Sioux Falls, SD. Was without power from 10 am till 9:30 tonight. Kids were out over night last night. They brought in 54 extra crews to work on power lines. 24,000 customers still without power. I lost a lot of trees. The first round came yesterday early and then we had another round of freezing rain last night and today. Now they say we are supposed to get 7-9 inches of wet snow. We need the moisture bad so I supposes we can't complain to much. Mostly the town folks crying about branches falling in their yard.

Radio news said a tree fell across a street in Appleton, Wisconsin- then came the freezing rain, and the tree froze hard to the street. Took crews quite awhile to get it cleaned up.

Luckily missed out on the freezing rain. Sioux Falls Got it good also. Just lots of snow here and hade some sleet at the beginning 3 days ago. Went through an ice storm in 2005. No electricity from the electric compony for 10 days. This was 2 years after the tornado in 2003.

Now that's a lot of ice. Add some wet snow on top of that and most everything would be on the ground.

Hope Paycheck didn't get any ice on his tail feathers, don't want any excuses when Ruby runs rings around him.

We got a whole degree warmer this little bit away (I'm what, 60 miles from there), and the freezing rain thawed before it got that thick. Had a minor power interuption but no big deal.

This morning heavy snow, got maybe 5 inches of heavy wet stuff, the evergreens are all bowed down. Anything that fell over or iced up yesterday is now covered in deep snow.

Saw a Bobcat stuck this morning, very hard snow to move, balls up hard into heavy sluchy snow. The payloader struggled to move it, as even the payloader was slipping around on the ice and snow coated parking lot....

Another couple inches supposed to come tonite yet, and supposed to get precip on Sunday, low of 30 high of 36 so who knows if rain or more snow coming.

Schools are all closed all over here.

An, the sight of spring, what a joy!

Fixing those snapped power poles is going to be difficult in this, the road ditches are now mini rivers, thawed mush on top, and this snow coating over the top, will be very hard to find the downed broken stuff, and very very hard to get equipment in to put up new poles. The forcast is mostly wet and either side of freezing, no relief for improvement.
